Zotrim supplement has been around since at least 2001. It claims to be the supplement that will help you curb your cravings and reduce your appetite, consequently leading to weight loss. In fact, Zotrim claims to be a ‘clinically proven appetite suppressant’ which even outperformed prescription drugs in clinical trials. We’ll look into this claim further in the science section of this review.

Zotrim features a bunch of testimonials proving that their supplement works. Four of them are accompanied with before-after photos. I checked those photos out and thankfully, they are genuine and not found anywhere else on the web. So, good sign!

What Zotrim Supplement Will Supposedly Do for You

According to the information on their website, Zotrim supplement can help you:

  1. Control hunger and food cravings
  2. Reduce frequent snacking
  3. Break bad eating habits
  4. Help you lose weight and keep it off ‘for good’ even without going on a diet

So who is the company behind Zotrim supplement?

Who is the Company Behind Zotrim?

Zotrim supplement has been owned by several companies over the years. From what I understand, it was first manufactured by Natures Remedies Limited, a UK-based company that was incorporated in 1999 but got dissolved in 2020. Then it was briefly owned by Wolfson Berg Limited, the Cypriot company behind PhenQ supplement. Now it is owned by Swiss Research Labs Limited, the same company behind PhenGold supplement.

Zotrim is a pretty well-known supplement in the United Kingdom, and has been sold in major stores and pharmacies in the country over the years. So we are dealing with a supplement with huge customer awareness, especially in the UK.

Science Behind Zotrim Supplement

The science behind Zotrim supplement is simple. To them, all you need to do to lose weight is to cut down your calorie intake through foods. Then add exercise to the mix and boom … simple weight loss!

To cut down calorie intake, you have to control your cravings and hunger. This is where Zotrim comes in. As I already mentioned earlier, Zotrim supplement is designed to help you suppress your appetite, hunger, excessive snacking and other food cravings. They claim that their supplement has been ‘clinically proven’ to be very effective … and they even provided scientific research papers on their supplement to prove it.

Speaking about scientific papers, here are some of them:

  1. This study found that the participants who took Zotrim (represented by YGD in the paper) before a buffet ate less and stopped eating 3 minutes earlier than those given placebo.
  2. This study found that people who took Zotrim stayed fuller (58 minutes) than those on placebo (38 minutes).
  3. In this study, 65% of the participants said that they were often hungry and snacked too much in between meals. However, only 15% reported that they still snacked too much after taking Zotrim for 4 weeks.

None of these studies appear to come from the same group of researchers, which is a good indication that they are from independent researchers with no conflicts of interest. Most importantly, very few supplements are backed by actual clinical trials so Zotrim deserves some credit for this feat.

Now let’s talk about the ingredients, shall we?

1. Yerba Mate Leaf Extract

Yerba Mate is a South American plant which is commonly consumed as tea and used as herbal medicine. According to Zotrim, yerba mate is packed with ‘more antioxidants than green tea’ and increases energy during exercise. They then cite this patent which claims that yerba mate can prevent the development of new fat cells, meaning that it can prevent rebound weight gain.

Healthline also highlights other studies linking yerba mate to weight loss. WebMD however, claims that more studies are needed as the existing ones have ‘insufficient evidence.’

2. Guarana Seed Extract

guarana plant

Guarana is a seed from a South American tree. The active ingredient in it is caffeine and of course, the weight loss effects of caffeine is well-known.

Zotrim claims that guarana, when combined with Yerba Mate and the next ingredient we’ll talk about next, leads to weight loss.

3. Damiana Leaf Extract

Damiana is a plant that is common in some parts of South America and the Caribbean. According to Zotrim, damiana is a well-known mood stabilizer, meaning that it will help you curb emotional eating. They then go on to claim that damiana works best for weight loss when combined with Yerba Mate and Guarana.

Each tablet of Zotrim contains 112mg Yerba Mate, 95mg Guarana extract, and 36mg Damiana extract. There is no recommended dose at the moment.

Other active ingredients of Zotrim include

  • Added caffeine
  • Vitamins B3 (Niacin)
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin C (Zotrim Plus)
  • Chicory-derived inulin (Zotrim Plus)

How to Use Zotrim?

The manufacturer recommends taking two to three tablets of Zotrim with water a few minutes before each of your meals.

As for Zotrim Plus, the manufacturer recommends mixing a full scoop with 200ml of water before each meal or whenever you feel hungry.

For best results, you can combine Zotrim with diet and exercise. But the manufacturer maintains that the supplement can still work without diet

Who Should Use Zotrim?

According to the manufacturer, Zotrim is suitable for anyone struggling to lose weight due to constant hunger and food cravings, failure to stick to a diet, and rebound weight gain. However, you should NOT use this supplement if you are under 18, pregnant, nursing mother, or allergic to any of the listed ingredients.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The manufacturer does not report any side effects associated with their product. But as a general rule, you should cut down on your consumption of caffeinated products while on this supplement, as it already contains an amount equivalent to a cup of coffee.
