Exipure weight loss supplement was launched at around June 2021. The manufacturer touts it as ‘the tropical secret for healthy weight loss.’ According to them, Exipure is a proprietary blend of 8 ‘exotic’ nutrients and plants which are ‘backed by clinical research’ to promote healthy weight loss. They go further to claim that Exipure is ‘the only product in the world’ which has been specially blended to target ‘the new found root cause of your unexplained weight gain.’

To prove that their product works, Exipure directs us to a bunch of testimonials on third-party review site Trustpilot, where it has a 4.3/5 rating. We’ll get back to this later in the review but first, let’s talk about the science behind this supplement, shall we?

Science Behind Exipure Supplement

Like I mentioned earlier, Exipure claims that it is the only product in the world that targets the newly-discovered ‘root cause’ of unexplained weight gain. Now what is that root cause?

Well according to the Exipure manufacturer, the root cause of unexplained weight gain is ‘low Brown Adipose Tissue’ (BAT). For those who do not know, BAT is a special type of body fat which is burned to heat the body when you’re feeling cold. BAT contains more mitochondria (the part of your body cell where energy is produced) than regular fat. This means that BAT burns more calories to produce heat, which is very useful in cold conditions.

There are many studies out there saying that increased BAT activity can lead to weight loss and its absence can contribute to obesity development. Exipure bases their claims on two of such studies. The first study, which involves 52,487 patients and published in Nature Medicine in January 2021, found that those with BAT had a lower risk of developing ‘type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, congestive heart failure and hypertension.’ The researchers also note that these benefits of BAT ‘were more pronounced in individuals with overweight or obesity, indicating that BAT might play a role in mitigating the deleterious effects of obesity.’

With this scientific finding, Exipure claims that the reason why you keep gaining weight is because you have little to no BAT. But don’t fret, as their unique supplement is packed full with ‘exotic’ plant ingredients which have been shown to increase your BAT levels, consequently promoting fat burning and weight loss.

Let’s talk about the ingredients now, shall we?

Ingredients of Exipure Supplement

exipure weight loss supplement ingredients

The ingredients of Exipure weight loss supplement include

1. Perilla

Perilla is a herb whose leaves and seed are used for medicine. According to Exipure, perilla ‘boosts BAT, supports brain health [and] supports healthy cholesterol.’ To prove it, the manufacturer cited this study which found that perilla prevented weight gain in mice fed with normal and high-fat diets. No such studies have been done on humans though so it remains to be seen if consuming perilla is beneficial for weight loss in humans. So this claim by Exipure is up in the air.

2. Kudzu

Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) is a creeping vine whose root, flower and leaf are used for medicine. According to Exipure, Kudzu ‘boosts BAT,’ is ‘high in antioxidants’ and ‘relieves pains and aches.’ To prove it, they cite this study which found that isoflavones, a group of compounds found in kudzu flower extract, prevented weight gain in mice fed with a high fat diet. Again, no studies of this sort have been carried out on humans. As far as available human research is concerned, Kudzu is only beneficial for those with alcohol use disorder.

3. Holy Basil

Holy Basil is an Indian plant which is commonly used in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda). According to Exipure, holy basil ‘boosts BAT, reduces stress [and] supports brain power.’ They then cite this study which found that ursolic acid found in holy basil increases brown adipose tissue and decreases diet-induced obesity in mice.

4. White Korean Ginseng

White Korean Ginseng (Panax ginseng) is a medicinal plant which is commonly used as a supplement for general health. According to Exipure, ginseng ‘boosts BAT, supports healthy immunity [and] reduces oxidative stress.’ To back up this claim, they cite this study which found that Ginsenoside Rb1, a compound found in ginseng, promotes the production of BAT in mice.

5. Amur Cork Bark

Amur Cork is a tree native to China, Korea and Japan. Its bark has been used in China for generations as medicine to treat ailments such as pneumonia, meningitis and tuberculosis.

According to Exipure, amur cork bark ‘boosts BAT, eases digestion and bloating’ as well as ‘supports healthy heart and liver.’ To prove their BAT claim, they cite this study which found that berberine, a compound present in amur cork bark, promotes BAT production in mice. When it comes to humans however, there is insufficient evidence that it causes weight loss.

6. Propolis

Propolis is a substance obtained from bee hives. Exipure claims that it ‘boosts BAT’, has ‘300+ antioxidants’ and ‘supports healthy blood sugar.’ To prove it, they then cite this study which basically says nothing about propolis boosting BAT or causing weight loss.

7. Quercetin

Quercetin is a pigment found in many plants. It is commonly used in supplements and has proven anti-inflammatory effects.

Exipure claims that quercetin ‘boosts BAT, supports healthy blood pressure’ and ‘rejuvenates aging cells.’ To prove it, they cite this study which found that quercetin in combination with resveratrol induced BAT production in rats. No such studies has been carried out on humans.

8. Oleuropein

Oleuropein is a compound found in olive leaves and olive oil. It reportedly has numerous health benefits ranging from antioxidant effects to protective function against diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

According to Exipure, oleuropein ‘boosts BAT, supports artery health’ and ‘supports healthy cholesterol.’ Then they cite this study which says that oleuropein boosts thermogenesis (heat production) in rats.

How to Use Exipure Supplement

The manufacturer recommends taking one capsule of Exipure supplement with water once a day. For best results, they recommend taking their supplement for at least 3 to 6 months so that ‘it can have enough time to work throughout your body to normalize your brown fat levels…’

Who Should Use Exipure Supplement?

According to the manufacturer, Exipure supplement is suitable for adults from ages 18-80 years who are struggling to shed stubborn fat resistant to diet interventions. However, they recommend consulting your doctor first before using their supplement ‘just to be safe.’

How Much Does it Cost?

A bottle of Exipure weight loss supplement costs $59. Each bottle represents a 30-day supply.

There are also two other plans available:

  1. 3 bottles at $49 each
  2. 6 bottles at $39 each

The aforementioned plans come with two ‘free’ bonus books on weight loss and motivation, while the 6-bottle plan has an additional ‘free shipping’ perk. The manufacturer also offers a ‘personal 180-day, 100% moneyback guarantee.’ All you have to do is to return your unused bottles to the provided mailing address for your refund.

Pros

  1. Presence of testimonials from third-party sources
  2. Presence of moneyback guarantee.
  3. The ingredients are relatively okay and useful for maintaining general health.
  4. The scientific basis is generally solid although Exipure’s claim about the root cause of unexplained weight gain is false.

Cons

1. Little Information About Company

There is almost no information about the company behind Exipure weight loss supplement. All I found concerning this company is that it only has a physical mailing address for shipping/returns, an email address, and use Clickbank’s customer support system to attend to customers’ order queries. On a normal day, this will throw up my red flag. The only reason why I’m not calling Exipure shady is because they are apparently working closely with Clickbank, which is in itself a trusted company when it comes to customer support. At least you’re safe when it comes to getting your money back.

2. The Scientific Evidence Behind the Ingredients is Weak

As we saw while discussing the ingredients of Exipure, one common feature is that their touted weight loss benefits are all based on research carried out on rats and mice. This is makes it difficult to say for certain that these ingredients can cause weight loss in humans as no studies on humans have been done yet. Basically, there is insufficient scientific evidence proving that the ingredients of Exipure can cause weight loss in humans and so, more research is needed.

3. Unreliable (Fake) Testimonials

Exipure features a bunch of testimonials on their website consisting of photos of people holding up the supplement bottle. Now while that proves that we’re not dealing with stock or stolen photos, that does not prove that Exipure works as they are not before-after photos. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the three testimonials claiming that they lost weight with Exipure, as they are indeed stock photos!

  1. ‘Lauren’, who supposedly lost 35 pounds, is a stock photo you can buy from Dreamstime;
  2. ‘Zach’, who supposedly ‘dropped 26 lbs’, is a stock photo from iStock;
  3. ‘Cassie’, who supposedly ‘dissolved 40 lbs in no time’ is a popular stock photo used by scammers to make testimonials. For example, here’s the photo being used on this VisiSharp supplement scam under the name ‘Miranda Fisher.’ In fact, you can see that the aforementioned stock photos are also featured on VisiSharp under different names of course.

Very disappointing!

fake testimonials exipure review

Still on the matter, Exipure claims that their product practically has a 5-star review on Trustpilot. Well if you go through the reviews there, you’ll see that the vast majority of the positive reviews were from ‘invited’ users. This means that Exipure recruited people to give their product a glowing review and maybe receive some form of reward for it. If you cast those reviews aside, you’ll get a clearer picture of the overall customer sentiment towards Exipure … and it’s not good. Practically no one found the invited reviews useful, while the negative reviews got more engagement and votes. Add this to what we uncovered above and you’ll understand why Exipure’s testimonials are very unreliable!

4. Makes False Claims About Root Cause of Weight Gain

As I mentioned earlier, Exipure claims that the root cause of unexplained weight gain is that you have little to no brown adipose tissue (BAT). Now while it is is true that low to no BAT predisposes you to weight gain, saying that it is the root cause of unexplained weight gain is flat-out false. This is because obesity isn’t that simple – there are many factors that contribute to unexplained weight gain and none of them can be classified as the root cause. Having little to no BAT is just one of the many factors that contribute to weight gain. Saying otherwise is at best false and at worst, dishonest!

Final Conclusion: DON’T BUY Exipure Weight Loss Supplement. NOT RECOMMENDED!
