Is PT Trim weight loss supplement by ‘Liz’ a legit product or a scam? In this review, you’re going to find out all you need to know about this supplement and why you should not waste your time and money on it. So let’s begin!
PT Trim (aka PT Trim Fat Burn) was launched in June 2021. According to the owner Liz, this supplement has a special ‘purple tea recipe’ from ‘deep in the jungles of Kenya’ which helped her to lose 110 pounds of ‘raw, nagging fat’. She goes on to claim that she achieved this incredible feat without changing her diet or exercising. All she did was follow the ‘purple tea ritual’ every morning before breakfast to achieve her results. She even boasts that ‘23,455 women and men’ have already used her supplement to lose weight ‘in the last year alone.’
So how did she stumble upon this incredible weight loss supplement?
Backstory of PT Trim
Liz begins her video presentation with a dramatic depiction of how she almost lost her baby in the delivery room because she weighed 290 pounds. The resulting guilt led her to depression and binge eating until out of nowhere, she discovered the purple tea recipe which led to her losing 110 pounds.
Later in the presentation however, Liz tells us a completely different story. First, she tells us that she almost lost two of her three children during childbirth because of her weight – but apparently, what really sent her into depression was the fact that her husband left her for adding 80 pounds during their marriage. This is pretty clear because from the rest of the backstory, her main motivation to lose weight is that she wanted her ex ‘to eat his heart out the next time he saw me…’
Anyway, Liz claims that she essentially did every weight loss diet/exercise regimen under the sun to lose weight and sure thing, none of them worked for her. Then one night after tucking the kids to bed, she suddenly stumbled upon a U.S. National Library of Medicine article a social media friend shared, which talked about every person’s body having a genetically-determined ‘set point’ weight, and apparently, that’s why she’s struggling to lose weight (more on this later).
With this information, Liz visits her doctor, who informs her that this ‘set point’ phenomenon is ‘not permanent.’ After lecturing her on that, he proceeds to give her purple tea which an alleged Kenyan patient of his gave him to test and give his ‘professional opinion.’ Liz goes home with the tea, drinks it and long story short … she lost weight and made her ex jealous and regret ever dumping her. She then teams up with the doctor and his Kenyan patient to produce the purple tea en masse and now here we are with PT Trim supplement.
Science Behind PT Trim
According to Liz, your body has a specific weight level it wants to be in (‘set point’) and it will do anything to maintain that weight. This phenomenon, she says, was the reason why no diet or exercise regimen worked for her … as her body will release hunger and other hormones to arrest the weight loss and hoard extra fat ‘just in case of emergency.’
Taking it further, Liz’s doctor claims that while it’s an uphill battle to change your body’s set point, it is not impossible. According to him, most people are ‘doing it wrong’ when they decide to go on a diet or exercise regimen to lose weight and changing this set point. However, he goes ahead to claim all you need is to do this ‘ less than 10 seconds trick’ everyday and your body will reset itself and you’ll begin burning fat anytime you want. He even claims that this 10-second trick works no matter your age, genetics and amount of weight you want to lose.
So what is this ’10-second trick’? Enter purple tea. Let’s talk about it, shall we?
What is Purple Tea?
Purple tea is a mutated variety of the common tea plant which was first spotted in China but was produced on a large scale in Kenya. Currently, it is being cultivated at high altitudes on the Nandi Hills of Kenya.
According to PT Trim, purple tea is so powerful that the locals who consume it ‘didn’t look a day over 35’ despite being ‘in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.’ They are also very healthy, happy, fast and strong unlike their American counterparts who are busy ‘arguing about what “diet” is best, and whether carbs are bad for you or not.’
Anyway, what makes purple tea so powerful? According to PT Trim, purple tea contains the following:
- Anthocyanin: This is the flavonoid which gives purple tea and blueberries their purple color. According to PT Trim, anthocyanin is the substance responsible for lowering your body’s set point and keeping it that way ‘for years. It is also an antioxidant which helps you get rid of toxins from your body.
- Catechins and epigallocatechin gallate: According to PT Trim, these are ‘rare’ compounds which are found in large quantities in purple tea. They supposedly speed up your ‘fat-burning metabolism.’
- GHG: This is a polyphenolic compound which PT Trim claims is only found in purple tea. GHG supposedly ‘decrease fat tissue “thickness” while increasing lean body tissue’ – resulting in you losing weight while getting ‘thinner and leaner at the same time.’ GHG reportedly achieves this by enhancing the activity of lipase, an enzyme responsible for fat digestion. GHG also reportedly ‘detoxifies the liver.’
PT Trim accompanies these claims with scientific studies but I’m not going to bother verifying these claims. You’ll find out why by the time you finish reading this review!
How Much Does it Cost?
In the video version of the website, a bottle of PT Trim costs $59. There are two other options:
- 3 bottles at $49 each
- 6 bottles at $39 each
However, in the text version of the website, a bottle of PT Trim costs $89. The 3-bottle package costs $59 each, while the 6-bottle package costs $39 each:
Red flag!
Anyway, these plans come with what Liz calls a ’60-day moneyback guarantee’ but in reality, this is the mandatory refund policy of the product’s retailer Clickbank. So be sure to contact Clickbank directly for your refund instead of going through Liz’s ‘team.’
Now to the fun part. Why is PT Trim a scam?
1. Owner is Unverifiable (Does NOT Exist)
Liz describes herself as ‘ a single mom from St. Louis, Missouri, whose husband left her.’ She also tells us that she’s not a doctor, dietitian or personal trainer. And that’s all we know about her. She’s nowhere to be found on social media.
Good luck trying to verify if Liz is actually a real person. From my experience however, I can confidently tell you that we are dealing with a ghost. That woman in the video presentation calling herself Liz is most likely a paid actor who is reading a script. Even if she’s real, there is also this big problem that she’s not even qualified to give advice on fitness and nutrition, talk more of selling you a weight loss supplement.
Since it’s impossible to verify the identity of this ‘Liz’, rest assured that the unnamed doctor and his Kenyan patient mentioned in the backstory do not exist either.
2. The Scientific Basis is Full of Lies
In the presentation, Liz claims that the reason why she couldn’t lose weight despite all her efforts was because her body has a weight ‘set point’ that it was fighting to maintain. Then her supposed doctor informs us that changing your body’s set point is difficult to do.
To prove these claims, Liz points us to a few scientific publications like this 2010 study which confirms that indeed there is such a thing as a biological set point that regulates body weight. However, Liz failed to tell you that in the study, the authors said that the processes involved in the biological control of body weight ‘are considered to be weak and do not really operate within an obesity-promoting environment.’ The researchers even go as far as saying that your body’s set point can easily be ‘overwhelmed’ by Western diets. This sharply contradicts Liz’s claim that she couldn’t lose weight because her body was fighting to maintain her set point, hence preventing her from losing weight. If her claim is true, then all her efforts to lose weight (diet, exercise) should work because those activities do not promote an obesity-friendly environment.
But wait … Liz also told us that her body has a high set point! This however, raises another question. Claims like this require hard proof that can be measured. So how did she measure her body’s set point to arrive at such a conclusion?
As for her doctor’s claim that you can change your body’s set point, that is simply impossible to verify. This is because your body’s weight set point is mainly determined by your genes and since you can’t change your genes, you can’t change your body’s set point!
3. Overhypes the Weight Loss Benefits of Purple Tea
Liz tells us that purple tea contains anthocyanin, which is the substance that will change your body’s set point and make you lose weight on demand. She didn’t bother to provide any scientific evidence to support her claim … because there isn’t any. I’ve already talked about anthocyanin in my Okinawa Flat Belly Tonic review, where I pointed out that scientists are currently disputing its weight loss benefits. There is currently no conclusive evidence that anthocyanin causes weight loss.
Anyway, Liz bases almost all her claims about purple tea on this study, which found that purple tea can ‘provide anti-obesity effects in mouse and humans.’ However, she failed to tell you that the researchers behind the study have conflict of interest (employed by a company who sells purple tea) and the substances responsible for the anti-obesity effects of purple tea are also found in other types of tea. Basically, there is nothing special about purple tea other than the fact that it has anthocyanin, the substance responsible for the purple color!
